Dorothy Schmedeke

Dorothy Mae Schmedeke, 79, of Morrisonville, IL passed away at 4:24 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at her home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1931 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Amos and Telitha Jane (Roe) Simmons. She married Carl E. Schmedeke on Nov. 4, 1948 in Morrisonville, IL. Dorothy retired from the Morrisonville school district as a bus driver after 20 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Morrisonville, IL.
Surviving are her husband, Carl E. Schmedeke of Morrisonville, IL; son, Larry (wife, Elise) Schmedeke of Craig, CO; daughter, Brenda (husband, Floyd) Minder of Rochester, IL; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Jane Abbott of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Clifford Allen Schmedeke; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Morrisonville, IL with Revs. Chad Foster and L.E. Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville, IL.
