Earl Francis Best

Earl Francis "Bub" Best, 80 of Glen Carbon, formerly of Sorento, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9:53 AM at Relais Bonne Eau in Edwardsville..

He was born on July 11, 1932 at Livington the son of Earl and Frances (Kraigher) Best.  He married Lucille Estelle Knop on October 19, 1952 at New Douglas.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Best owned and operated Best Hardware Store in Sorento for 55 years, retiring in 2009.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, Kessinger American Legion Post 713 and Sorento Masonic Lodge 861 for 48 years.  He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Lucille E. Best of Glen Carbon, IL, Sons, Mark (wife, Vicki) Best of Claremont, CA, and Neil (wife, Martha) Best of Edwardsville, IL; 5 grandchildren, Lacey Best, Michelle Haberer, Matthew Haberer, Elliott Best and Amy Best.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas with Pastor Mark Sidney officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at New Douglas Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 3:00-&l00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento.

Memorials are suggested to Sorento Food Pantry or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
