Ellen Jane Monte

Ellen Jane Monte, 100 of Panama passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 8:45 PM at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
She was born on October 12, 1912 at Bessemer, Alabama the daughter of Gordon and Sarah (Thomas) Perry. She marred Eugene Monte in 1951 at Edwardsville; he preceded her in death along with her parents, sisters: Rena Holman, Elizabeth Perry and Edith Schwant, Brothers: Hugh Perry, George Howard Perry and Floyd King, Brother-In-Laws and Sister-in-Laws: Frank and Mary Monte, Vern and Josephine Cruthis and Ernie and Mary Bucco.
During World War II Ellen was known as a "Rosie The Riveter", welding and riveting airplane fuselages for the US Government. She was a licensed beautician, picked cotton as a young girl and worked in her families lead mine.
Survivors include: 2 daughters, Dolly (Mike) Knebel of Panama, IL and Jean (Floyd) Beckham of Walshville, IL, 2 grandchildren, Floyd (Robin) Beckham and Bobby (fiance Crystal McDaris) Beckham; 4 great grandchildren, Alena, Summer, Sophia and Olivia Beckham.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama with Pastor Dave Trover officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Panama. Visistation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 10:00 AM until service time at the Perfetti Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Union Cemetery Association.
