Elsie Mae Durbin, 84, of Taylorville, IL, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Elsie was born January 22, 1940, in Stonington, IL, the daughter of Floyd and Geneva (Jones) Tirey.
Surviving are her children, Tina (Lewis) Shanks of Taylorville, IL, Renee (Steve) Moran of Taylorville, IL; and her daughter-in-law, Chris Durbin of Taylorville IL; several grandchildren-great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved chihuahua, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and a son, James “Tony” Durbin.
Elsie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorites memories would be sitting on the front porch watching the children play and the dogs running around. She will be dearly missed.
Per Elsie’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Old Stonington Cemetery. Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements.
