Esther Louise Helgen

Esther Louise Helgen, 92, of Sorento, IL passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 4:30 PM at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

She was born May 31, 1914 in Walshville Township, Montgomery County, IL, the daughter of Samuel and Sophia (Hagerman) Guthals. She married Harold L. Helgen on September 20, 1932 in Bond County, IL; he preceded her in death in 1992. Also preceding her in death were her parents; Daughter, Darlene Grossi; Brothers, Harold, Delbert, Woodrow and Irvin Guthals; Sisters, Edna Miller and Irene Saathoff; Grandsons, Jeffrey Daily and Rodney Potts.

Mrs. Helgen was a homemaker and a member of Walshville Baptist Church.

Survivors: Son, Delmar Helgen of East Alton, IL; Daughters, Charlene Daily of Springfield, IL, Linda White of Highland, IL and Cathy Rademaker of Sherman, IL; 13 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Sister, Alberta Jarman of Gillespie, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, July 21 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home, with Rev. Elmer L. Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento.

In memory of Esther Helgen memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Cripple Children or the American Cancer Society.
