Eugene “Don” Donaldson Jr

Eugene “Don” Donaldson, Jr. 81, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his residence.

Don is survived by his children, Jackie (Don) Zlaty of Connersville, IN, Sarah (Mike) Vice of Kincaid, IL, Greg (Barbara) Donaldson of Taylorville, his grandchildren, Zach (Tori) Donaldson, Ryan Donaldson, Taylor Donaldson, Kaysi (Aaron Robertson) Vice, Lucas (Olivia) Vice, Alyie (Mike) Davis, Kaytlynn Donaldson, Kay (Elwood) Adams, Krista (Ted) Ostermeier, Zackary Wicker, and Zaydyn Donaldson; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, his sisters, Pat Ferrill and Linda (Ken) Neideen; and his four legged child, Fred Also.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra, his sons, Scott and Steve Donaldson; a brother; Kenneth; and a brother-in-law, Charles Ferrill.

Don spent his freshman and sophomore years at Westville Military Academy.  During his junior and senior years, he attended Morrisonville High School.    During his free time, he always enjoyed farming.   He was a mechanic for the Air Guard.  Don was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville for many years.

The family will receive family and friends at Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville, IL on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian County Animal Control.
