Eugene Donaldson Sr.

Eugene Francis Donaldson, Sr., 89, of Morrisonville, died at 7:18 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morrisonville, with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Bunse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery, Morrisonville.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Perfetti Funeral Home, Morrisonville.

Mr. Donaldson, an Army Air Corp veteran, was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Christian County, son of the late Frank O. and Matilda (Mast) Donaldson. He was a lifelong farmer in the Morrisonville area and a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church. He served on the Morrisonville CUSD #1 school board for several years and was a member of Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 and Morrisonville Knights of Columbus.

He married Elizabeth C. Unser on Nov. 28, 1942, at St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morrisonville, and she died Oct. 1, 1999.

Mr. Donaldson leaves two daughters, Linda (husband Ken) Neideen of Johnston, IA, and Pat (husband Charlie) Ferrill of Morrisonville; two sons, Don (wife Sandie) Donaldson of Taylorville and Ken (wife Rosemary) Donaldson of Carlisle, PA; 11 grandchildren, Jackie (husband Don) Zlaty, Sara (husband Mike) Vice, Carrie (husband Stu) Young, Steve (wife Julie) Donaldson, Greg (wife Dana) Donaldson, Kevin Donaldson, Khris Donaldson, Kyle Donaldson, Todd (wife Jennifer) Neideen, Troy Neideen and Mark Ferrill.

Also surviving are 19 great-grandchildren; five sisters; and five brothers.

Preceding Mr. Donaldson in death were four sisters, three brothers, and one grandson, Scott Donaldson.
