Evelyn Bernice Young, 97 of Glen Carbon formerly of Morrisonville and Springfield passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 10:40 PM at Eden Retirement Center in Glen Carbon.

She was born July 4, 1913 the daughter of James G. and Josephine (Pratt) Oglesby. She married Earl E. Young on September 25, 1941; he preceded her in death along with her parents and brother, James H. Oglesby.

Bernice worked as an auditor for the State of Illinois for many years. Along with her husband they owned and operated Young's Cafe in Morrisonville for several years. She was the organist and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville for over 25 years where she attended church with her family. She was active in Republican Women organizations and ran for office in Christian County. She lived in Edwardsville near her brother for 12 years before moving to the retirement center in Glen Carbon 6 years ago.

Survivors: Twin daughters, Cheryl Lauterbach of Bloomington, IL and Caryl Alico of West Chester, IL; 2 grandchildren, Robin and Kim; 3 great grandchildren, Madylin, Jocelyn and Hogan; 2 nieces, Beverly Stitt of Carbondale, Il and Wanda Cerny of Edwardsville, IL; great nephews and niece, David, Douglas, Ben and Beth; great great nephew and niece, Justin and Gabrielle.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 3 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery.
