Florence Menietti

Florence Menietti, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville, died at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1917, in East Mineral, Kansas, the daughter of Allen and Miriam Davies Harrison. She married Domenic Menietti on November 11, 1937, in Taylorville. He died March 4, 2004. She was a homemaker, She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of Taylorville Country Club.

Surviving are her daughter, Joan (husband Thomas) Layzell of Springfield; son, Robert “Bob” (wife Shelia) Menietti of Battle Ground, IN; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
