Francis George Davis

Francis George Davis, 79, of Sorento, IL passed away Thursday, June 08, 2006 at 2:30 AM at his home.

He was born February 2, 1927 in Sorento the son of George and Anna (Nedball) Davis. He married Gladys 0. Dixon on June 14, 1947 at Sorento; she preceded him in death on February 20, 1999. Also preceding him in death were his parents; Infant daughter, Judith Ann Davis; Sisters, Mercedes Ziska, Audrey Mallory and Marie Georgi; Brothers, Louis Ziska, Wesley Sackett and Leonard Sackett.

Mr. Davis was a rural mail carrier for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors: Daughters, Sherry (husband, Mal) Kirgan of Greenfield, IL, Sandra (husband, Frank) Bone of Vandalia, IL, Denise (husband, Alvin) Reed of Sorento, IL and Darla (husband, Doug) Garrett of O’Fallon, IL; 8 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Eddie Ziska of Roseau, MN; Sister, Dorothy White of Centralia, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Private family services will be held Saturday, June 10 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento, with Rev. Tom Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Bond County Memorial VFW Post 1377.

In memory of Francis G. Davis memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospital Hospice.

Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.
