Frank Kalka Jr.
Frank Kalka Jr., 78, of Taylorville passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 3:55 a.m. at Meadow Manor in Taylorville.
He was born April 14, 1931, at Bad Axe, Michigan, the son of Frank and Minnie Maikizak Kalka Sr. He married Glenda M. Griffin on April 8, 1950, at Hillsboro, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Ann Long, Eleanor Meads and Lucille Whitmer; brother, Alex Kalka; and great-grandson, Koty Cook.
Frank was a firefighter for the Taylorville Fire Department, retiring in March 1977. He also owned and operated Frank Kalka & Son. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his earlier years he played fast pitch softball. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1425.
Survivors: Wife, Glenda M. Kalka of Taylorville, IL; son, Dale (wife, Monita) Kalka of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Tineal (husband, Kenneth) Fisher of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Dayla (Thomas) Balster, Shanon (David) Wagner, Barrett (Tiffany) Kalka, Crystal Cook, and Kent Cook; great-grandchildren: Cassandra Dunn, Savannah Dunn, Sidney Wagner, Mickayla Cook, Vincent Cook, Amanda Balster, Brooke Balster, Zachary Kalka, and Colton Kalka; great-great-grandchild, Ryleigh Dunn; brother, Joseph (Bonnie) Kalka of Taylorville, IL; sisters: Marian Goodrich of Mt. Auburn, IL and Betty Ann Saulsberry of Illiopolis, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Frank Kalka Jr., 78, of Taylorville were held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Perfetti Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Tim Calvert, Thomas Balster, David Wagner, Barrett Kalka, James Brown, L.J. Meads and Kent Cook.
Mr. Kalka passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Meadow Manor in Taylorville.
