Franklin Delbert Sexton, 87, of Taylorville died at 9:30 P.M. Friday, April 28, 2006 at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.

He was born on April 6, 1919, in Chatham, the son of Porter and Mary (Perkins) Sexton. He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1937. He married Margaret Crowl, of Pawnee, on January 25, 1941 in the Methodist Church, St. Louis, MO. She died June 27, 1956. He married Dorothy Dixon, of Pawnee, on July 19, 1958 in the Methodist Church, Springfield. Frank retired from Peabody Coal, Pawnee, on June 13, 1983 after 45 years. He was a World War II veteran of the 1389th USAAF 1943-1946. He was a member of Taylorville VFW Lodge #4495, Pawnee Masonic Lodge #675 since January 20, 1943, Taylorville Eastern Star Haslemere Chapter #221, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Springfield, Springfield Ansar Shrine AAONMS, Christian County Shrine Club, Christian County Farm Bureau, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Taylorville.

Surviving are his wife of Taylorville; son, Franklin Dean (wife Wendy) Sexton of Taylorville; daughter, Sandra (husband Steve) Clark, of Terre Haute, IN; three grandsons, Dustin (wife Christine) Sexton of Marine, IL, Sean Clark of Terre Haute, IN, and Scot Clark (fiancé Stacy Deoreo) of Brazil, IN; granddaughter Karen Sexton (companion Dave Trask) of Webster Grove, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty (husband Milo) Reynolds of Owasso, OK.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville.

Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
