Franklin T. Emerson Sr.

Franklin Thaddiaus Emerson Sr., 74, of Taylorville, died at 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in his residence. He was born August 5, 1931 in Taylorville, the son of Jacob and Edith (Reber) Emerson. He married Beatrice Jones on August 20, 1955 in Taylorville. He was the recycling/trash attendant for Taylorville Street Department. He retired in 1993 from Taylorville Street Department as the Street Sweeper. He was a member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516, a Veteran of the Korean Wars. He was a collector of hats and clocks.

Surviving are his wife Bea of Taylorville, daughter Vanessa (husband Joe) Leach, sons: Frank, Jr. (wife Mickey) Emerson, Bart (fiancé Julie Mathews) Emerson, all of Taylorville. Grandchildren: Stephanie Leanne Emerson, Katelyn Nicole Emerson, Joshua Dale Leach, Franklin Thaddiaus Emerson III, Colton Jacob Leach, Evy Jolynn Leach all of Taylorville. Brothers: Tim Emerson of Taylorville, Louie Emerson of Litchfield. Sisters: Georgia Elam of Taylorville, Betty Summers of Dixon, IL and Linda Womack of Raymond. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 6 sisters, 3 grandchildren, Christine Dianne Emerson, Bryce Emerson Leach, Slade Charles Leach.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2006 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville. Funeral Service will be on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville with Pastor Jim Cornell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.
