Gary Cornell

Gary Cornell, 61, of Taylorville, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2004, at his residence.

He was born February 20, 1943, the son of Walter and Evabel Allan Cornell. He was a 1962 graduate of Mt. Auburn High School. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard for six years and was a member of the Kedron Masonic Lodge #340 of Mr. Auburn. He was a farmer and truck driver for Crete Carrier Corporation.

Surviving are his mother of Taylorville; brother, Allan (wife Joan) Cornell of Taylorville; sister Karen Cornell of Indianapolis, IN; nephew Brent (wife Janelle) Cornell of Taylorville; niece, Stacey Cornell of Sullivan, MO; great-nephews, Justin and Brian Cornell; and great-nieces, Katie Cornell, and Julie and Wendy Lauffenburger. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Burial will be in Dewitt Cemetery in Dewitt.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services on Sunday in the funeral home.
