Geraldine 0. Pope, 86, of Sorento, IL passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 10:45 AM at her home.
She was born February 15, 1918 in Panama, IL the daughter of Wilbur Marion and Velma Edith (Wall) May. She married Ralph Pope on August 3, 1933 in the Assembly of God Church in Greenville, IL, he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Dallas May and 2 sisters, Vera Tipsword and Louise Long.
Mrs. Pope was a cook at the Sorento School for 14 years before her retirement. She was an avid canvas painter. She was a member of Sorento Presbyterian Church, Sorento Eastern Star and Kessinger American Legion Post 713 Auxiliary.
Survivors: Daughters, Karen (husband, Orin) McCracken, Geraldine (husband, Lonnie) Griffiths both of Sorento, IL; Sons, Gary (wife, Kay) Pope of New Orleans, LA and Russel (wife, Evelyn) Pope of Sorento, IL; Grandchildren, Kary Sue Pope, Barbara Landry, Susan Crites, John Pope, Linda Moler, Janet McCord, David McCracken, Julie Carrillon, Corrina Perfetti and Kent Griffiths; Great Grandchildren, Ross Fossum, Beau Landry, Megan Landry, John Crites, Paul Crites, Jamie Moler, Cara Noyes, Kayli Perfetti, Taylor Griffiths, Parker Griffiths, Bethany Carrillon and Jackie Moler; Brothers, Frank May of San Jose, CA and Eldon May of Crozet, VA; Sister, Shirleen Glazebrook of Orange Beach, AL; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 26 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 27 at the Sorento Presbyterian Church, with Rev. James Howie officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento.
Memorials may be made to the Sorento Presbyterian Church.
