Germaine G. Oller

Germaine Georgette Oller, 83, of Kenosha Wisc., formerly of Lake Villa, Ill. and Round Rock, TX passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Brookdale of Kenosha, Wisc.
She was born in Nice, France October 15, 1932 the daughter of Henri and Henriette Andree (Duval) Goussard. Germaine met and married Earl Oller on September 10, 1951 when he was stationed with the U.S. Army after WWII, in her hometown of Fontainebleau, France. They were married for 57 years before his death in March of 2009. Germaine moved to the U.S. in 1954. They lived in France, Germany, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois and Texas.
Germaine was a homemaker, Army wife, and a Licensed Nursing Assistant (CNA). She was the past treasurer of the Grandwood Park Civic Association. She loved sewing, knitting, cooking, doll making and gardening. She enjoyed competitive Scrabble and Yahtzee.
Germaine was a civilian survivor of WWII. As a young girl growing up in northern France, she fled with her family, as the German Army led by Nazi Commanders, invaded her hometown. She was a refugee child who was forced to walk for several hundred miles to Southern France for temporary safty. As a teenager growing up in a town occupied by foreign invaders, families were snatched from their homes and friends removed from her classroom, never to be seen again. She learned to be frugal and resourceful. She was an innocent victim of a long ago conflict and grew to be a very patriotic American citizen of the United States.
Surviving are her sons Alain (Dianne) of Gurnee, Ill., Frank (Diana) of Cedar Park, TX, Curtis (Jodie) of Lindenhurst, Ill., daughter-in-law Roberta of Woodridge, Va., grandchildren and great grandchildren Jenna (Sarah) and Christa of Austin, TX, Alexandra, Stephanie, and Miley of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Thatcher, Scarlett, Cordelia and Lucille of Cedar Park, TX. Her French family sister-in-law Renee, nieces Beatrice (Gilbert) and Sandrine (Christophe); nephew Patrick (Michele); great-Nephew Fabian (Thiphaine), great nieces Camille and Laeticia and great-great niece Clara. In addition, Germaine leaves a large and extended family living in Taylorville and the surrounding counties.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl; daughter Marie-Claude; son, William, her parents, a brother Jean Louis and a sister Jacqueline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home, Taylorville. Fr. Dan Willenborg will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation for Germaine will be held for one hour before the services.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brookdale Kenosha and Seasons Hospice for the tender care given to Germaine these past few years.
