Hazel A. Scharf, 93, of Litchfield, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 12:40 a.m. at Heritage Healthcare Center in Litchfield.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1920, in Sorento, the daughter of William M. and Ola E. (Vogle) Boyd. She married Edward F. Scharf on April 6, 1946, at Carlinville, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2003. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie Boyd; a brother, Elmer Boyd; and a niece, Donna Bingamon.

Mrs. Scharf helped her husband on the family farm for many years. She had previously worked in the lab for Milnot in Litchfield and for Sterling Drug.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Shirley (husband Paul) Ragland of Litchfield, Erma Whiteside of Litchfield, Barbara (husband Art) Chapman of McPherson, KS, Bernadine Large of Highland, Dorothy Scharf of Highland, and Linda (husband Mark) Ellenbecker, William (wife Kitty) Boyd, Charles (wife Reba) Boyd, and Darrel Boyd, all of Wisconsin. 

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.  Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.
