Ida Maude Hancock, 94, of Taylorville, IL passed away at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1916, in Morrisonville, IL, the daughter of John Elmer and Mary Frances (Durbin) Plopper. She married Loy Pope Hancock in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in 1975. Ida was an a homemaker and a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to many throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed her animals as well as crocheting, reading, puzzles, and cooking.
Surviving are her son, Robert D. “Bobby” Hancock St. of Taylorville, IL; daughters, Rebecca L. Crawford of Taylorville, IL and Rosemary M. Mayer of Decatur, IL; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Phillips of Morrisonville, IL, Patricia Noonan, Regina Port, and Teresa Hill, all of Athens, IL; brother, John Plopper Jr. of Morrisonville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Josephine Muffick; brothers, Paul, Maurice, Otto, and Noah Plopper; one grandson; and daughter-in-law, Diane Ward Hancock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville, IL, with Father Gerald Bunse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery in Morrisonville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
