Ina Claire Jedlicka Gardner, 89, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville, IL.

Ina was born August 10, 1929 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Arthur L. and Edna (Haenni) Jedlicka.  She married Richard M. Gardner on June 17, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, IL.  He preceded her in death on September 30, 1999.

Ina graduated with honors from Taylorville Township High School in 1947, and summa cum laude from Millikin University in 1951.  Upon her graduation, she accepted the position of Assistant to the President of First Trust Bank, and later worked at Gardner Glass Company with Richard. The Gardner family was active in scouting, and Ina served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, as well as a Girl Scout Brownie Leader.  As a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Ladies Aide, and served as Treasurer of the Congregation.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Byrl A. Jedlicka.

Ina is survived by her sons, Lewis M. (wife, Judy) Gardner of Morrisonville, IL, and Ted A. (wife, Rena) of Clermont, FL; daughter, Sally C. (husband, Eric) Kozak of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Lucas R. Gardner of Clermont, FL, and Caroline C. Kozak of Ballwin, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL 62568, or Christian County Animal Control, 300 S. Baughman Rd., Taylorville, IL 62568.

  1. Your mother and father were two of my favorite friends and classmates. I am so sorry to hear of her death, but also realize that it is a blessing that she is now with Rich and is at peace. I am sorry that we will be  unable to make the trip back to Taylorville for her funeral, but you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. 

  2. our friendship goes back so many years and will really miss her and our phone conversations on a regular basis…she kept me up to date about my hometown….your Dad and i go back from the first grade…we sat in ABC order and my last name was Frew so i sat in front of him for years…..what a tease he was…you have my prayers and love…
