Ivadell Mary Austin, 89, of Taylorville passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009, at 1:38 a.m., at her home.

She was born May 19, 1920, in Pawnee, IL, the daughter of Frank and Minnie Harris Stahr. She married Earl W. Austin, Sr. on February 28, 1938. Ivadell was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed crafts such as sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed writing poetry and reading. She was a member of the Eagles club.

Surviving are her son, Earl "Sonny" W. (Clara) Austin, Jr. of Taylorville; daughters: Vickey Austin, Rev. Jo Ann (Jerry Sr.) Dobyns, Sharon Davis, and Norma (Eugene Jr.) Anderson, all of Taylorville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Orville Austin of Pawnee; sisters: Alice Griffith of Rochester, IL, Norma "Susie" (Bud) McCafferty of Rochester, IL; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson, Bart Rickman Jones, one great-grandson, Jimmy Lee Rogers, and one granddaughter, Dawn Marie Austin. She was loved by her neighbors the Collebruscos, Tollivers, Garmons and Billie Whitby.

Graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville on Monday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jo Ann Dobyns officiating.
