Ivan Pearson

MORRISONVILLE - Ivan M. Pearson, 95, of Morrisonville passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at 10:05 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1913, in Sharpsburg, the son of the late Charles and Grace (Piercy) Pearson. He married Gladys L. Smith on Nov. 20, 1946, at the Morrisonville United Methodist Church; she preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Lindal Pearson; a daughter, Sharon Wilson; and a grandson, Craig Pearson.
Ivan worked as a mechanic and machinist for Circle Steel and Kennedy's before his retirement. He was a former volunteer fireman for the Morrison-Palmer communities for many years.
He was a member of the Morrisonville United Methodist Church, Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 and the Morrisonville-Palmer Fire Protection District. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (Karen) Pearson of Beardstown and Terry (Alice) Land of Farmersville; grandchildren, Valerie (James) Armstrong, Jill (Phillip) Layne, Brett (Carrie) Pearson, Mike (Sheri) Land and Christy (Dale) Witte; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, C. Edwin Pearson of Memphis, Tenn.; and a daughter-in-law, Pauline Pearson of Kokomo, Ind.
Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:30 p.m. at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville, with the Rev. Ken Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721.
In memory of Ivan, memorials may be made to the Morrisonville-Palmer Fire Protection District, Morrisonville Community Ambulance or the Morrisonville United Methodist Church.
