J. David “Inky” Mundhenke, 69, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 10:27 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at his home.

David was born October 26, 1948 in Taylorville, the son of James Paul and Doris Ann (Lowe) Mundhenke.  He married Cherilyn Harvell in 2006 at Carlinville, IL.

David attended Morrisonville High School.  He then went on to work for the Palmer Elevator, and then Firestone in Decatur, where he would retire after 32 years of service.  Following his retirement, he drove semis for W.H. Kent in Morrisonville.  He was a proud union supporter, and a member of the United Steel Workers.  David was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1516 in Taylorville.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR fan.  He enjoyed going to games in St. Louis, as well as the casinos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, David Eugene Van Ostran.

David is survived by his wife, Cherilyn Mundhenke of Morrisonville, IL; daughter, Laura (companion, Jay Knight) Van Ostran of Taylorville, IL; granddaughter, Amanda Mae Van Ostran of Taylorville, IL; sister, Sandra Osterholt of Morrisonville, IL; uncle, Bill (wife, Alta) Mundhenke of Taylorville, IL; beloved dogs, Moochie and Tuffy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin Street, Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Jim Ferrill, officiant.

Interment will follow the ceremony at Morrisonville Cemetery.

Any food donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville, 111 North St., Morrisonville, IL 62546 for the funeral luncheon following interment.
