MORRISONVILLE - James Paul Mundhenke, 83, of Morrisonville passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at 1:15 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 7, 1926, in rural Owaneco, the son of Alfred and Ada (Waddell) Mundhenke. He married Doris Ann Lowe on Oct. 27, 1946, at the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Phyllis Davis and Ione Prose; and brother, John Mundhenke.

Jim retired from Caterpillar after 33 1/2 years of service. He also worked 13 years for C & IM Railroad and farmed. He was a member of the Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 in Morrisonville and VFW Post 4495 in Taylorville. He was a US Navy veteran serving in the Pacific during World War II.

Survivors: Wife, Doris Ann Mundhenke of Morrisonville; son, Dave (wife, Cherilyn) Mundhenke of Morrisonville; daughter, Sandra Osterholt (companion, Kelsey Sharp) of Foley, Ala.; grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Lacey, Laurie (Brad) Cox, Shane (Betty) Osterholt and Nathan (Carla) Osterholt; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred "Bill" (Alta) Mundhenke of Taylorville; sister, Frances Hill of Lincoln, Neb.; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 721.

Memorials are suggested to the Transitional Care Unit of Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
