Born in: Greenville, IL
Resided in: Brownstown, IL

Jane Scott, 55, of Brownstown, passed away January 14, 2023, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, IL. She died peacefully with her son at her side after a courageous battle with cancer since 2017.

Jane was born May 15, 1967, in Greenville, IL, the daughter of Ronald Harry and Deloris May (Nowlin) Scott.

After graduating Mulberry Grove High School in 1986, she became a certified nursing assistant and worked in St. Charles, Mo, St. Louis, MO, and in Vandalia, IL at the BJC Homecare, from which she was employee of the month for her excellent care of patients.  She has been recognized many times by her patients and families for her outstanding skill and compassion as a CNA during her employment with BJC Homecare.  From there she went to cosmetology school and then worked as a hairdresser for five years, also while driving the school bus for the Brownstown school system.

Since an accident at her home in May of 2007, leaving her paraplegic, she has been a fighter. Jane was a fun-loving person and friend who had the biggest heart of anyone in the entire world. She had a tremendous work ethic and was not a complainer.  She enjoyed being social and spending time with family and friends. She was an amazing mom and friend who you were lucky to know. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and fishing, but her greatest joy in life was watching her son, Dillon, turn into the fine, young man he is today.

The family extends a special thanks to Jane’s wonderful caregivers, over the years, that provided the help she needed to remain in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Deloris.

She is survived by son, Dillon Holloway, of Mahomet, IL, boyfriend, Kyle Schwarm of Brownstown, IL, a niece, Kelly Hipsher of Vandalia; 3 great nieces and nephews, and a sister, Sandy Stewart of Smithboro, IL.
