Jeff ‘Bodean’ Jackson, 57, of Smithboro, Illinois, passed away on May 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by loving family. He was born on August 21,1968, in Greenville, to Jerry and Dianne (Sussenbach) Jackson. He married Denise Ann Obermark on November 14,1998, in Greenville and they were married for over 27 years.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jeff, a man whose life was defined by adventure, friendship, service, and an endless curiosity for the things he loved most.
From his earliest days, Jeff found joy in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting at daybreak, casting a line, or spending weekends at demo derbies he embraced life with enthusiasm and energy.
As the years went on, Jeff continued building lifelong friendships through the activities he loved. Sunday nights were reserved for washer league and was also a proud parent and supporter of the Bond County Cougars.
In later years, Jeff’s adventurous spirit never slowed. He discovered a love for ‘jeeping’, side-by-side rides, snowmobiling, and the ever-loving train shots that took place just south of the tracks.
Beyond his hobbies, Jeff was deeply committed to serving others. He was a proud member of the Men’s Auxiliary and Volunteers for Vets, organizations that reflected his generous heart and willingness to give back to his community.
Jeff was also known for his creative side, an avid winemaker and most recently discovering a new passion for baking.
Above all else, Jeff will be remembered for his warm spirit, his sense of humor, and the way he brought people together. His life was full of adventure, friendship, and love — and the memories he created will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Surviving Jeff is his father, Jerry Jackson of Greenville, Illinois; wife, Denise Jackson of Smithboro, Illinois; his sons, Dylan (Katherine Bobinski-Boyd) Jackson of Pocahontas, Illinois and Drew (Gracelyn Thomas) Jackson of Greenville, Illinois; siblings, Melissa (Chris) Higgins of Goreville, Illinois, Gary ‘Gooch’ (Debbie) Jackson of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, David (Lindsey) Jackson; and a grandson, due May of 2026.
Preceding him in death are his mother; brother, Randy Jackson; grandparents, Harry & Frances Sussenbach and Charles & Faye Jackson; and uncle, Larry Sussenbach.

I’m very sad to hear of Jeff’s passing, and so close to his Uncle Larry’s passing. I had a lot of fun on Ayers Road with Vernon, Jeff and Larry. Wonderful memories. Diane and Francis always managed chaos with all of us in and out of the trailers, the swimming pool in the front yard, riding motorcycles all over the roads and pastures, Little League, basketball in front of HD’s shed. It was a great place to be a kid. God bless Jeff’s family.
Denise and Family,
So saddened to learn of your loss. Please accept Jill and my sincere condolences and prayers; and know that the entire Energy Dynamics family is thinking of you at this time. Thanks for introducing us to Jeff on the Enertech Mexico trip. Consider yourself hugged until we meet again!!
