Jessie Neathery, 100, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away on March 24, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Jessie was born September 20, 1923, in Coffeen, East Fork Township, Montgomery County, Illinois, the daughter of Leonard Jennings and Iva Geneva (Garwood) White. She was first married to John Robert Kirkman, then Allen Robert Vaughn and later she married Raymond O. Neathery. They all preceded her in death.

For many years, Jessie worked in housekeeping, at Utlaut Memorial Hospital, in the laundry department. After her retirement, Jessie was a caregiver for others while taking loving care of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, watching them grow and welcoming great-great grandchildren. She loved watching her programs, especially the game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She was always on the go, loved shopping with friends, kept an immaculate house, was a great cook and baker, and had acquired a unique collection of porcelain cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers, Wayne, Burrell, Dale, Merle, Cecil, Clifford, and a sister, Mildred.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Barb) Kirkman of Greenville, Illinois; grandchildren, John (Niccie) Kirkman of Greenville, Illinois, Dawn (Kevin) Fry of Lincoln, Illinois, Scott (Kimberly) Kirkman of Panama City, Florida; great grandchildren, Chelsey, Shelby, Haley, K.J., Jordan, Carter, Kyle, Parker, Kinsley, Casen; great-great grandchildren Chloe, Kayden, Haven, Hailey, Mika; brother, Russell (Donna) White of Coffeen, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday April 20, 2024, at First Christian Church, 1100 Killarney Drive, Greenville, Illinois, 62246.

Memorial Service: 12:00 p.m., following the visitation, with Rev. Dee Armes, officiating.

Burial: will be privately held.

The family asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts to the First Christian Church and/or First Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be given at the visitation or funeral or mailed to: First Christian Church, 1100 Killarney Drive, Greenville, Illinois, 62246 and/ or The First Baptist Church, 111 2nd Street, P.O. Box 254, Mulberry Grove, IL 62262.

The family has entrusted Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville with the ceremonies.
