Joan M. Walden

Joan M. Walden, 75 of DuQuoin, formerly of Assumption and Taylorville, died at 7:40 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006 at Heartland Medical Center in Marion.

She was born on April 28, 1931 in Moweaqua, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Declaire) Blondiau. She married Norman Walden in 1957 in Assumption. She was a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Taylorville.

Surviving are her three daughters; Deborah (husband Jeff) Heldman of McMurray, PA; Denise Gilliam of DuQuoin, IL; and Donna Walden of Rockford; one brother, Robert Blondiau of Fortville, IN; five grandchildren; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Yvonne Killion of Springfield, and a granddaughter.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 26, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Taylorville, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Tuesday in the church.
