John Arch Anderson

JOHN ARCH ANDERSON, 86, of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born December 7, 1921, in Taylorville, the son of William D. and Nellie (Melgreen) Anderson. He worked as a Coal Miner for Peabody and Freeman Mines, and retired as a Mine Inspector from the State of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy, in WWII and the Korean War. 

John was a member of the Ansar Shrine, VFW, Southwest Texas Scottish Society and United Methodist Church, Taylorville. 

On March 18, 1960, he married Elnora Imogene "Jean" Warner in Coal City, Illinois. 

Surviving are his wife, Jean, of Taylorville. Sons: David Lee (Marilyn) Matlock, Chadds Ford, PA: Michael (Jane) Matlock, Wilmington, II.: Randall (Connie) Matlock, Pawnee, II., John William (Tracy) Anderson, Morrison, II., 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. 

He was preceded by his parents, daughter Donna Marie Anderson, and sister Wilma Rush. 

Graveside service will be on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. At Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, Illinois 

With Rev. Charles Sward officiating.
