John C. Cahoon

John Christopher Cahoon, 76 of Highland passed away at 5:12 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.

He was born on May 15, 1938 at Highland the son of Letto and Anna Jane (Strohkirch) Cahoon. He married Virginia Louise Hassur on January 22, 1972 at Elko, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; 2 Sisters, June Clifton and Crystal Carter.

John worked most of his life as a chef. First with Village Inn Pancake House and later with Stuart Anderson Black Angus Steakhouse both in Boise, Idaho. After he made his home in Highland he owned and operated a handyman and lawn care service. He was a veteran of the Air Force.

Survivors include: His wife, Virginia L. Cahoon of Highland, IL; Daughter, Jacqueline L. Kelly of Emmett, Idaho; Sons, James L. (wife, Lynn) Cahoon of Alton, IL, Joseph L. Cahoon of Highland, IL and John C. Cahoon Jr. of Mud lake, Idaho; 11 Grandchildren; Many Great Grandchildren; Sister, Bonnie Koch of Phoenix, AZ; Brother, Leo (wife, Frieda) Cahoon of Highland, IL; Many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
