John H. Dixon

John H. Dixon, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Kincaid and Taylorville, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, August 1, 2004 at St. John’s North in Springfield.

He was born April 28, 1922, in Benton, IL, the son of Commie C. and Mae (Overturf) Dixon. He married Wanda Hughes, in Taylorville, on December 6, 1945. He was a coal miner. He was a member of the Kincaid Baptist Church and the Eagles Club in Taylorville.

Surviving are his son, Tommie C. Dixon of Springfield; daughters, Francie L. Schroader of Taylorville and Mary J. Webb of Bartelsville, OK; companion, Pearl Martin of Springfield; sisters, Marie Cavatorta of Tovey, Colleen Hartley of Kincaid; and Wanita Loman of Taylorville; brother, Earl Dixon of Morrisonville; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Howard Wise and Pastor Louie Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Visitation will be held between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
