John Henry Stephens, 75 of Morrisonville passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 12:28 AM at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 26, 1936 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the son of Carl Milton and Mildred (Bland) Stephens. He married Betty Ann Kulisek on June 1, 1958. He was preceded in by his parents.

John graduated junior college from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO. He received his bachelors degree in business from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. He served active duty in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves for 8 years. John worked at World Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska until 1970 when the family moved to Illinois in 1971, and John worked at Franklin Life Insurance Company until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 681 in Morrisonville, Valley of Springfield Scottish Rite, Tucusa Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Taylorville VFW, Christian County Farm Bureau, NRA and Christian County Affiliate of NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville. John loved his dog and liked to hunt, fish, feed and watch all the birds in his backyard.

Survivors: Wife, Betty A. Stephens of Morrisonville, IL; 3 sons, John Jr. (wife, Teresa) Stephens of Nokomis, IL, Mike (wife, Holly) Stephens and Patrick (wife, Tracie) Stephens both of Taylorville, IL; 6 grandchildren, John III, Heather, Colt, JoAnne, Kelly and Derek; 3 step grandchildren, Brian, Brett and Bobby; 2 step great grandchildren, Camden and Abby; Sister, Martha Jones of Corralas, NM; 2 Nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17 from 6:00-8:00 PM with Masonic Rites at 7:45 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville.
