John William Zimmerman, 40, of New York City, NY formerly of Harvel, IL passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 9:30 AM at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, following a short illness with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

He was born on October 28, 1964 in Hillsboro, IL the son of Donald D. and Martha (Rosenberger) Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Kathryn Zimmerman and Stanley and Vaneta Rosenberger.

Mr. Zimmerman grew up on the family farm in Harvel; he attended Morrisonville Grade School and Lincolnwood High School. He was chosen for the Illinois Government Intern Program and during the first semester of his senior year worked in the Springfield office of U.S. Attorney Gerald Fines. Following early graduation, he entered Westminster College at Fulton, MO. He also attended Illinois College. In January 1987 he went to New York to work as Assistant Director of Banquet Services at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. He then worked briefly in public relations and for 15 years had been in carpet sales, working with decorators in the New York area.

He was a devout member of St. Luke in the Fields Episcopal Church in New York, serving the church in many areas. As a young man, he enjoyed being a member of the Children of the American Revolution and later was a member of Sons of the American Revolution.

Survivors: Parents, Don and Martha Zimmerman of Harvel, IL; Brother, Christopher (wife, Christina) Zimmerman of Harvel, IL; Uncle, Roger (wife, Mary) Zimmerman of East Otis, MA; Aunt, Harriett Ellen (husband, Don) Koch of Mt. Vernon, IL; four cousins and many dear friends.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17 at Moffitt-Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 18 at 9:00 A.M. at Harvel Cemetery and Memorial services will follow at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, with Dr. Randall K. Perry officiating.

In memory of John William Zimmerman memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Hodgkins Research or charity of donor’s choice.

Moffitt-Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville is in charge of arrangements.
