Joseph Shelby Dudley

Joseph Shelby Dudley, 83, of Taylorville, passed away at 7: 10 P.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at his residence. He was born October 14, 1923 in Decatur, Ill., the son of Joseph H. Dudley and Mable Ann Shelby Polzin. He married Lois Jean Miller on May 20 , 1944 in Portsmouth, VA.

He was retired as an Electrical Engineer with Commonwealth Edison, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Taylorville, and V.F.W . He served in the U.S.Navy serving on Mission Bay and U.S.S. Randolph.

Surviving are his wife, of Taylorville. Daughters: Rea (husband Talmage) Roberson, Mooresville, Ind., Michal (husband Roger) Bouilly, Auburn, CA., Shelby Dudley and (husband Larry Karcher), Decatur, Ill., and Dana Dudley, Lisbon Falls, Maine. Son: Matthew J. (wife Chris) Dudley, Taylorville, Ill. 11 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren. Sister, Mary Smith, Tulsa, OK., and Brother Bill Polzin, Loves Park, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2007 from 9:30 A.M. to 11 :30 A.M. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville. Cremation rites will be accorded.
