Katelyn Ann McCarty

Katelyn (Katie) Ann McCarty, 19, of Taylorville, passed away on February 16, 2008 at 12:40 A.M. at Abraham Lincoln Hospital, Lincoln, Illinois as a result of a one vehicle crash in Middleton, Illinois. She was born January 24, 1989 in Taylorville, the daughter of Roger Dwayne and Pameila Lea Bough McCarty. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 2007 and was currently a Freshman at Springfield College of Illinois. She worked as a Nursing Technician at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Ill. Katie was "Miss Teen Illinois American Queen 2005". She belonged to Big Brother's Big Sisters, she was a Barbizon Model, she participated in the Children's Miracle Network, she was a Teen Captain for Relay for Life, and was co-chair for entertainment committee for Relay for Life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved taking painting lessons with her mother at The Studio, Taylorville, and restoring the Roadrunner with her parents. 

Surviving are her parents of Taylorville. Aunts and Uncles: Diane Decker, Franklin, IL, Steve Mitsdarffer, Assumption, Ben (Rhonda) McCarty, Buffalo, Debbie (Rick) Samson, Taylorville, Donna (Mark) Weaver, Effingham, Terry McCarty, Taylorville, Alice (Tom) Christenberry, Litchfield. Grandparents: Gene and Gertrude Lambin, Taylorville, Frank and Marge Bough, Taylorville, Mae Jean Wettstein, Pana, Kay Przykopanski, Lincoln. 

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers - John McCarty and Jack Przykopanski, Uncle - Ralph Bough, and Aunt - Sheila Mitsdarffer. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, Taylorville, Ill. 

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Taylorville, Ill. With Rev. Joel Lohr and Rev. Robert Spurgin officiating. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville, Ill.
