Kathleen A. Rhodes

Kathleen Ann Rhodes, 66 of Taylorville passed away at 2:05 AM on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Taylorville.

She was born on August 9, 1948 at Taylorville the daughter of Samuel J. and Vivian M. (Smith) Kerney Sr. Following the death of her father, her mother married Elmer Bergschneider and together they raised her. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a brother, Mike Kerney.

Kathy worked as a CNA for many years and was presently employed at Walmart in Taylorville. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1425, American Legion Post 73 Auxiliary and Moose Lodge 1516.

Survivors include: Daughter, Michelle Rhodes of Wisconsin; Sons, Lance Rhodes of Wisconsin and Doug (wife, Yvonne) Rhodes of Crystal Lake, IL; 5 grandchildren, Sebastian, Madisyn, Vanessa, Phillip and Nora; Sister, Rose (Bergschneider) Blackburn of Taylorville, IL; Brother, Sam J. (wife, Patsy) Kerney Jr. of Florida; Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will be held at a later date.

Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
