SPRINGFIELD – Kenneth Charles Allen, 75 of Springfield passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2:26 AM at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born April 22, 1935 at Taylorville the son of Charles and Mabel (Landers) Allen. He married Anna Marie McConnell on September 25, 1965 at Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth worked for Sangamon Card Company as a floor supervisor before retiring after 23 years of service. He also owned his own service station and had worked for Ace Hardware. He was a member of Taylorville Junior achievement, was a volunteer firefighter, Christian county auxiliary police and a red coat volunteer for day surgery at the Baylis Building.

Along with his friends he leaves to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Anna; Daughters, Renee (Art) Paine of Morrisonville, IL, Gayla (Robert) Gudgel of Girard, IL, Kim (Todd) Southard of Springfield, IL and Amy (Steve) Pickerill of Harvel, IL; 10 grandchildren and 3 ½ great grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. David Upchurch officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Feline Ranch or Central Illinois Food Bank.
