Kenneth V. Bryan, 85 of wood river passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 3:40 A.M. at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland.

He was born September 10, 1923. The son of James Clifford Bryn, he was raised by his mother and step father, Gladys (Casey) and Justin DePew. He married Marge Varner on May 5, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sister, Mary Lou Cowen; Brother, Geral DePew; 2 Great Grandsons, Harrison Acord and Jackson Davis.

Kenneth was a US Army veteran serving with the 106th Infantry Division during World War II and was taken prisoner of war at the Battle of the Bulge. He was active in various military organizations and served as a national service officer. He retired from American Steel Foundries in 1983 after 42 years of service.

Survivors: Wife, Marge Bryan; 3 children, Larry (Phyllis Hill) Bryan, Linda (Mike) Scroggins and Debbie (George) Hensley; 6 grandchildren; 4 Great grandchildren, 2 Sisters, Patricia Halleman and Sharron Jones; 4 Brothers, John, Bob, Bill, and Melvin DePew.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento with Robert Beloit officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital or Mooseheart.
