Kenneth "Butch" Russell Giller

Kenneth Russell “Butch” Giller, 72, of Hillsboro, IL passed away at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, surrounded by family after an eleven-month, courageous fight against liver failure.
Mr. Giller was born October 1, 1945 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Robert and Ruth (Schwere) Giller. He married Diane Vollintine on December 5, 1964, and together they raised a daughter, Tina (husband, Wayne) Jansen. During his lifetime, Mr. Giller worked 7 years at the AO Smith Co., was co-owner and broker of Hillsboro Realty, Inc., and retired from Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville, IL after 32 years of service. He was an active member of the Hillsboro Lions Club, Donnellson Masonic Lodge #255, and was a past mayor of Donnellson, IL. For many years he gave blood every chance that he could, and he loved to watch TV, and feed his grand-dog, Lainey.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Raye Giller; his parents; and his brothers, Rolf and Art Giller.
Mr. Giller is survived by his wife, Diane Giller of Hillsboro; daughter, Tina (husband, Wayne) Jansen of Hillsboro; granddaughters, Elizabeth Diane “Beth” Jansen and Kelly Sue Jansen both of Hillsboro; special grand-dog, Lainey; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Giller of KY, Tanya Giller of Witt, and Barbara Erylenne Markulakis of Wilsonville; four brothers-in-law, Bud, Lyman, and Terry Vollintine all of Walshville, and Tony Markulakis of Wilsonville; great aunt, Mitzi Clark of Ballwin, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many friends and neighbors.
Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Sorento, IL 62086, with Pastor Randy Sands and Rev. Daniel Willenborg officiants. The funeral ceremony will begin with Masonic Rites.
Interment will follow the ceremony at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento, IL.

A blue candle for our Lions colors. The Hillsboro Lions Club will miss our brother Butch. He was an active an integral part of our organization. His absence this past year while he was battling his liver failure has been notable and we have kept him in our prayers and discussions.
