Lamar "Marty" M. Bock

Lamar M. “Marty” Bock, 69, of Taylorville died at 8:55 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2004, in his home.

He was born March 6, 1935, in Witt, IL, the son of Martin and Evelyn (Singler) Bock. He married Suzanne Schreiner O’Bryen in 1980. He was a farmer and also retired from Firestone after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, Witt, and was a member of Moose Lodge #1516 and Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a lifetime honorary member of Christian County Propbusters R.C. Flying Club. He served in the U. S. Army.

Surviving are his wife; daughter, Jeanette (husband Harry) Billiter of Shelbyville; son, Edward (wife Barbara) Bock of Pana; seven grandchildren; step-son, Tim O’Bryen of Plano, TX; and brother, Robert Bock of Chatham. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg Bock; and brother, Larry Bock.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 3, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, in the funeral home, with Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.
