Born in: Morrisonville, IL
Resided in: Blue Mound, IL

Larry E. Skinner, 81, of Blue Mound, IL, passed away on February 12, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL, surrounded by family.

He was born in Morrisonville, IL, on August 12, 1942, the son of Harold and Ruth (Oller) Skinner. He married Daisy Garner in Carrollton, TX, on February 25, 1976, and had 40 blessed years until her passing on March 29, 2016.

If one saw Larry out and about, he likely had on his jeans, cowboy hat and boots. He loved to dance, especially with Daisy, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing jokes, spinning a good yarn, and sharing stories. He also enjoyed western movies and tv shows, fishing, and reading books – especially Louis L’Amour.

When he wasn’t working as an over the road truck driver, traveling the United States from side to side, top to bottom, he was spending time enjoying his family and especially, the grand and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Decatur Memorial and Springfield Memorial for the excellent care and compassion given to Larry.

Larry was preceded by his parents and his wife.

Surviving Larry are his sons, Christopher Skinner of Kincaid, IL and Larry Skinner of Taylorville, IL; daughters, Kelley (Jeremy) Stephenson of Arlington, TX and Debbie (Bart) Tomlin of Fort Smith, AR; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Sheila Skinner of Taylorville, Mary (Claude) Grandfield of Blue Mound, IL, Donald (Brenda) Skinner of Harvel, Clarissa (William) Hirtman of Decatur, IL; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who know him well.
