Lawrence Patrick “Pat” McCormick, 83, of Morrisonville died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville with the Rev. Gerald Bunse officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by Leslie-Reddick American Legion Post 721. Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCormick was born in Springfield on Nov. 3, 1929, the son of the late Howard B. and Mary Agnes (Doolin) McCormick. He married Mary Louise Jones at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville on July 28, 1962, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2012.

He graduated from Beaver Dam Grade School and Pawnee High School and served in the U.S. Army on the front lines during the Korean War. He then attended Springfield College in Illinois and graduated from Iowa State University at Ames, IA. He taught at South Fork High School in Kincaid for 26 years, retiring in 1984. He then worked as an adjudicator for Disability Determination Services, State of Illinois, retiring in 1991.

His memberships include Knights of Columbus Council 1151, where he served as the Bingo officer for over 25 years; Leslie-Reddick American Legion Post 721; treasurer for Kitchell Memorial Library for several years; secretary/treasurer for Christian County Retired Teachers; board member of Morrisonville Salvation Army where he served on the  committee for several years; St. Maurice Catholic Church where he served as lector and Eucharistic minister; secretary/treasurer of St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery Board; and past president of St. Maurice Catholic School Board.

Mr. McCormick is survived by a daughter, Maureen (William) Woodrum of Chatham; son, Matthew (Elizabeth Ann) McCormick of Springfield; grandchildren, Brody James, Ian and Gracie Alexandra; sisters, Nora Jane (Willard) Cray and Sr. Margaret McCormick O.P., both of Springfield, and Mary Katherine (Charles) Jordan, formerly of Farmersville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard B. McCormick and Arthur H. McCormick; and one nephew.

Memorials are suggested to St. Maurice Catholic Church.
