Loren Lloyd Montgomery

Loren Lloyd Montgomery, 87, of Taylorville, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at home. He was born September, 11, 1921 in Rural Edinburg, Illinois, the son of Lloyd and Eleanora Kruckeberg Montgomery.
Loren was a graduate of Stonington Community High School. He was a World War II Veteran with the 374 Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, Eighth Air Force, stationed in England and on August 13, 1944, was shot down near Orleans, and survived due to care ofa French farm family. He was flying a P5 l Delta. Also served in the Pacific where he studied jet engines.
He returned to the U.S. and was reassigned to the Phillipines. Actively serving until after WWII, the then continued in the Air Force Reserves. He retired as A Lt. Col. And a member of the Retired Air Force Officers Association. Upon return to civilian life, he farmed with his father, was a crop duster, a salesman, and over-the-road truck driver for many years.
He was a member of the Edinburg Lutheran Church and Retired Air Force Officers Association.
Survivors include: Sister, Myra Critz of Tulsa Ok, Niece, Lisa Critz, Tulsa, Ok,; Nephews: Keith Kightlinger, Tifton, Georgia, Carl Critz, Tulsa, Ok., Brian Critz, Broken Arrow, Ok, and Robert Critz of Tulsa, Ok. One great niece and two great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Ellen Kightlinger and Lorene Miley
Visitation will be Friday, September 19, 2008 from 11:00a.m - 12:00 noon at Shafer Funeral Home
Funeral will be at 12:00 noon 9-19-2008 at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville, Ill
Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery.
