Louie Kenneth Randle, 93 of Sorento passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at 8:30 PM at Heritage Manor in Staunton.

He was born December 27, 1917 in Montgomery County, IL the son of Louie Ray and Margaret Mae (Hicks) Randle. He married Opal R. Towell on February 25, 1938 at St. Charles, MO; she preceded him in death on June 22, 2001 along with his parents, son, Kenneth R. Randle, twin grandsons, brothr, Morris Randle, 2 sisters, Pauline Faulkner and Lois Payne.

Kenny was a Staff Sergeant with the 52 3rd Maintenance Corps in the Army during World War II. He served in Europe and the South Pacific, ending his tour in the Philippine Islands. Following his military service, he owned a butcher shop in Sorento, then moved to a farm north of Sorento and worked at Granite City Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 861 in Sorento, a charter member of Panama VFW Post 6628, former commander of Kessinger American Legion Post 713, charter member of Bond County Shrine Club, member of Ainard Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies, Eastern Star and Legion of Honor DeMolay. He served on the Sorento Volunteer Fire Department and the Sorento Homecoming Association. He was a faithful member of the Sorento Presbyterian Church where he served as a elder.

Survivors: Daughter, Mary Jo (Paul) Hemken of Sorento, IL; 3 grandsons, Kenneth A. Randle, Eldon Hemken and Daniel Hemken; 1 granddaughter, Barbara Knetzer; 10 great grandchildren, Kenny R. and Sarah Randle, Shailen, Brittany, Christian, Ethan and Shane Hemken, Cassandra and Allison Knetzer and Kirielle Kovaly; 5 sisters; 3 brothers; Many nieces and nephews; He was a friend to all and loved dearly by his family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11 from 5:00-*:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento with Masonic Rites at 7:45 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at 11:00 AM at Sorento Presbyterian Church with Revs. James Howie and Daniel Hemken officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
