Lucy Ellen Hemken

Lucy Ellen Hemken, 87 of rural Hillsboro passed away Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 6:20 PM at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

She was born May 6, 1915 at Sorento the daughter of Earl and Nora (Long) Slagel. She married Burl Hemken on November 7, 1936 in Hillsboro.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 sisters, daughter, Myrna Worker and grandson, Danny Worker. Lucy was a member of the Walshville Baptist Church and a 1934 graduate of Hillsboro High School.

Survivors: Husband, Burl Hemken of rural Hillsboro, IL; Sons, Darrell Hemken of Hillsboro, IL, Burton Hemken of Walshville, IL, Norman Hemken of Litchfield, IL and Carl Hemken of Walshville, IL; Daughter, Norma Elam of Wyoming; 16 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 12 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 13 at 1:00 PM at the Walshville Baptist Church with the Rev. Elmer Fenton officiating.

Burial will follow in Kirkland Cemetery, rural Sorento.

In memory of Lucy memorials may be made to the Walshville Baptist Church.
