Mable Pauline Askins

Mable Pauline Askins, 80 of Sorento passed away Monday, December 15, 2008 at 1 :58 AM at Greenville Regional Hospital. She was born March 16, 1928 at Stoddard County, Missouri the daughter of the late Herbert Charles and Ruth Mae (Glenn) Gwaltney. She married John George Askins on May 22, 1954 at East St. Louis. Mable was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Gwaltney, sister Margie Anderson and a step son, James Askins I. Mable was a machine operator for Brooks Paper Company in St. Louis before her retirement. She was a member of the United Church of Christ. 

Survivors: Husband, John G. Askins of Sorento, IL; Son, Ronnie Mathis of Lancaster, CA; 7 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Laura (Wayne) Gish of Sorento, IL; Brother, Carl (Lois) Gwaltney of Affton, MO; Several Nieces and Nephews. 

Friends may call on Wednesday, December 17 from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 :30 AM at the Perfetti Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
