Marjorie Ridings

Marjorie Ridings, 92, of Greenville, Illinois, passed on to her glorious homecoming with her Lord, Jesus Christ, Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Glenwood, Greenville, Illinois, surrounded by loving family.

Marjorie was born on April 1, 1934, in Carthage, Illinois and was the daughter of Orvel and Minnie (Hopkins) Prior.  She married James T. ‘Jim’ Ridings, on June 22, 1963, at her family home, in Bentley, Illinois.

She was a graduate of Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in education and found her calling teaching at the elementary school level and continued her educational service by being the local librarian for many years. Together, with her husband, Jim, they owned and operated an orchard in Greenville.

She was a faithful servant to Christ and was a founding member of the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Edwardsville, Illinois, as well as a faithful member of the Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church in rural Greenville, Illinois. She loved to sing at church and alongside her husband, Jim.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her children, Jamie, Barb, Tim, Bart (Roberta), Joel, Rodney; grandchildren, Travis, Rachael, Megan, Lucas, Richie, Kayla, Wade, Allyssa, Kaylee, Tanner, Amanda; her 13 great grandchildren; and siblings, Mrytle White and Charles Prior.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, son, Rick Ridings, and grandson, Adam Ridings.

Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church, 582 Mt. Nebo Ave, Greenville, IL 62246.

Funeral: 11:00 am, following the visitation, with Rev. Alan Curtis officiating.

Burial: Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Memorials may be given at the church or mailed to the Little Flock Church, 5601 Schulte Lane, Edwardsville, IL 62025 and/or the Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church, 1160 Prairie Road, Greenville, IL 62246.
