Martha Elizabeth Ewig

Elizabeth Ewig of Morrisonville died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2004, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. 

She was born in Harvel. the daughter of Samuel N. and Ora Massey Carter. She married Robert L. Ewig on February 1, 1934, in Taylorville. He died October 10, 1960. She was bookkeeper for Harrison Motor Sales in Taylorville for 30 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville and a member of Rosalind #736 Order of Eastern Star. Civic Janes, Morrisonville Kiwanis Club, Royal Neighbors. Morrisonville Historical Society, Rebekah Orient #2 of Palmer and Modern Woodman of America. 

Surviving are her daughters: Linda Brachear Poggenpohl of Morrisonville and Ruth A. Best Hopper of Taylorville: grandchildren: Robert Brachear, Douglas . Brachear, Janet Walch, Melissa L. Johnson and Melinda L. Best: great-grandchildren: Andy Brachear, Kerri Brachear, Tyler Walch, Kylie Walch. Kassie Walch. Karter Brachear, Ashlyn Johnson, Mason Johnson and Cali Best: step-grandsons: Russell and Bruce Poggenpohl. both of Raymond; and nephew, Art Carter of Morrisonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dick Carter; sister, Eva Carter; nephew, Louie Carter: and sons-in-law: Roy E. Brachear, Robert R. Poggenpohl and Frederick Hopper. 

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, in First Presbyterian Church, Morrisonville, with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in the church. Moffitt-Perfetti Funeral Home. Morrisonville, is in charge of arrangements.
