Martha Jean Wheeler, 71, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:08 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Carriage Crossing Senior Living of Taylorville.
Martha was born October 2, 1951, in Pana, the daughter of the late, Rex Eugene and Marie Magdalen (Huffmaster) Neece. She married Larry Richard Wheeler on June 20, 1981, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2019
Martha graduated from Pana High School with the Class of 1969. Upon graduation she earned her certification as a transcriptionist. Martha was a dedicated and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, where she worked as a Preschool Teacher’s Aide and later as the church secretary until her retirement. Martha loved word finds and sudoku. She was an avid Frank Vallie and the Four Seasons and Monkees fan. Martha especially loved spending time with her faithful dog, Daisy, watching T.V.
Martha is survived by her son, Rex W. (wife, Cassy) Wheeler of Stonington; daughter, Hollie M. Wheeler of Taylorville; and many cousins.
Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 12:00 p.m. until the time of ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Rev. Brian Johnston officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
