Mary A. May, 95 of Charlotte, NC formerly of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Radbourne Manor in Charlotte.

She was born on July 3, 1921 at Taylorville the daughter of Ray and Verda (Swift) Smith. She married William Allen May; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Sisters, Raberta Neathery, Louise Ketchum, Eloise Patterson, Edna Mae Alonzo and Arlone Ruhlow.

Mary was a loving wife of 47 years, mother, grandmother, sister, devoted friend of many. Her faith in the Lordship of Jesus was evident throughout her life and a faithful influence on many over the years. She was truly a Proverbs 31 women who was able to maintain her faith through an 11 year battle with the Alzheimer's disease that ultimately took her life. Despite the loss of all memory, recognition of loved ones, and the inability to converse, one week before her death she was still able to say, "He's been so good to me, Jesus has been so good to me."

Survivors: Daughter, Cheryl (Husband, Thomas) Loy of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren, Vania Loy of Columbia, SC and Bryan (Wife, Christine) Loy of Powell, OH; Great Grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Loy; Sister, Elaine Galyon of Springfield, IL; Brother, Larry Smith of Naples, FL; Nephew, Roger Ruhlow.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
