Mary C. Compton

Mary Catherine Durbin Dudra Compton, 66, of Cookeville, TN, died Tuesday, January 1 5, 2008, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1941, in Palmer, the daughter of Walter F. and Hattie Lois Griffin Durbin.

She was a registered nurse. She was a member of First Christian Church of Cookeville. 

Surviving are her husband, David Compton; daughters: Cathleen (husband Rusty) Hill of Taylorville, Leslie Johnson of Cookeville, TN, and Shari (husband Earl) Straight of Austin, TX; grandchildren: David (wife Mindy) Hill of Nokomis, Carolanne Hill of Aurora, Rachel Hill of Taylorville, Emily Johnson of Cookeville and Katie and Jake Straight of Austin, TX; great-granddaughter, Peyton Hill of Nokomis; sister, Joanne Tinner of Nokomis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Dorothy Crowder, Rita Marie Deck, Juanita Johnson and Linda Sracklon; and brothers: Ronald Durbin, Vere Durbin and Herbert Durbin. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, in Shafer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Anderson Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, in First Christian Church, Cookeville, TN.
